Helping to support the needs of Islanders with disabilities, the Channel Islands Co-operative Society introduced their Autism Hour. They have created a more enjoyable grocery shopping experience for their autistic customers by turning off the music, avoiding tannoy announcements, creating an autism-friendly checkout with the ‘bleep’ volume at its lowest setting, and stationing autism-trained ‘Community Angels’ around the shops to help whenever needed.
Whether it’s brightening our surroundings or ensuring our safety and security, the day-to-day life of our JEBS Amenity Lighting Engineers is very varied and no two days are the same. Sometimes they are installing new car park lighting or working on our pathways and highways. There’s maintenance work and night-time investigation and repair of street lighting outages - all performed outdoors, year round and sometimes in inclement weather conditions.
Our large multi-disciplinary team welcomed a new member this week when Tom Bowers joined us as our new Maintenance and Reactive Service Administrator. Tom is in charge of a 13-strong team that looks after all our customers once JEBS have completed an installation for them. These range from small domestic heating customers to our larger corporate commercial customers, who include JT, Channel Island Co-operative Society, Sandpiper and Waitrose.
JEBS were appointed to develop the design and installation of a complete new mechanical and refrigeration service installation at the Channel Islands Co-operative Society's St Peter Grande Marche, to enable the upgrade of the store in a phased approach.
JEBS undertook the complete mechanical and electrical services installation including all landlord's services for this conversion project at Pierre Arrive House, St Helier.
The project comprised of converting the existing office block into 19 high specification town apartments, with roof terrace gardens, landlord service, fire alarms systems and access, and TV installation. Together with, plumbing, heating lighting power, and telephone/TV services.

JEBS was appointed to remove three no. 250kW water chillers and replace these with two new inverter-driven 375kW-rated heat pump chillers, to service the main Departures Hall at Jersey Airport. This involved staff working air-side and presented some unique challenges for the team delivering the project.
JEBS, as a service partner for Jersey Telecom, carried out the complete installation service at the East Exchange, including building work, and supply installation and commission of duty stand by close control air conditioning equipment for this site.
JEBS were employed by the States of Jersey Education Department to select, design, supply and install a low noise, twin type energy efficient heat pump unit to serve the ITC room at Hautlieu School.
The works were co-ordinated with the site management team in order to complete works without disruption to the school’s activities.
JEBS is responsible under its Service Level Agreement to provide maintenance and 24-hour emergency reactive services to all of JT’s business-critical air conditioning equipment. In total this covers 42 sites which includes five Data Centres, 30 Service Distribution Rooms and four Exchanges.

JEBS is helping train the plumbers and electricians of the future by installing four new training bays for apprentices at Highlands College.
